This picture is remembered by many thanks to erotic scenes with strawberries and ice and a dance to the song You Can Leave Your Hat On. However, the plot is based on a serious theme of destructive relationships tied only to sex. John gets whatever he wants from his mistress. Elizabeth, on the other hand, is approaching an emotional breakdown.

This only directorial project by Joseph Gordon-Levitt may seem like a simple erotic film full of many love scenes with Scarlett Johansson. However, it reveals a relevant topic today: the obsession of many people with porn, which gives more pleasure than real sex.

In one of the many adaptations of the classic novel "Dangerous Liaisons" by Choderlos de Laclos, the action was transferred to modern times. The focus was not so much on emotional relationships as on seduction and sex. Perhaps this hurt the depth of the story, but it made it more attractive to young people.

At first glance, the film may seem like a standard horror movie about a monster that can change its appearance. But director David Robert Mitchell knowingly focused on sex as a way to get a curse. So he talks about promiscuous relationships and sexually transmitted diseases. The creepy monster can be considered the best advertisement for protected sex and contraception.

In fact, both parts are a single whole, they divided the film just for the sake of convenient timing.

Steven Scheinberg made a picture based on a sexual fantasy about the boss's domination over the secretary. And many call The Secretary a more successful mainstream BDSM movie than the famous Fifty Shades of Gray. In addition, the action is presented here with a significant amount of humor.

Another example of a story where the connection between the heroes rests only on sex and eventually breaks down because of this. Bernardo Bertolucci set himself the task of showing scenes of violence as realistically as possible. It even spoiled his relationship with the leading actors: Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider.
13. 40-year-old virgin

By the age of 40, Andy leads a very regular and measured life: he works as a storekeeper, collects toys, does not drink or smoke. And all this has a main reason - the hero is still a virgin. One day, he meets the mother of three children Trish, and feelings arise between them.
In contrast to other films from the selection, the life of the main character of this comedy has nothing to do with sex at all. But gradually the viewer is led to an interesting conclusion: at 40, it is already much more difficult to start an intimate relationship than in adolescence.

Stephen Soderbergh's painting through the sexual problems of the characters tells about human complexes and closeness. It's not for nothing that videotapes are the only example where people don't lie about their feelings. And by the way, this is the third film in the selection, where one of the main roles was played by James Spader, who also starred in "Car Crash" and "Secretary".

In this film, Roman Polanski shows how a once-in-love woman from resentment can become a vengeful sadist, turning her spouse into a toy.

But when an outside perspective is added to the narrative, it becomes clear how cruel Erica's perversions are and how dangerous it is for her loved ones.

But in the finale, the events mix, and the viewer can only guess what happened to Severina in reality, and what she only dreamed of.

Another emotional painting by Roman Polanski. Here he managed to convey fear and dislike for sex and in general everything carnal in the spirit of a thriller or even a horror movie.

Paul Thomas Anderson's film provides a peek behind the scenes of the porn industry. Here, as in ordinary life, they are jealous, scandalous and even commit crimes motivated by passion. It is interesting that the picture is filled with many visual references to the classics of cinema: from "Nice Guys" by Martin Scorsese to "I am Cuba" by Mikhail Kalatozov.

An erotic thriller by one of the most famous Korean directors, Park Chang-uk, pleases with an unpredictable plot. The entire action in the film is mixed with passion and love: Suk Hee's sincere attraction is contrasted with the insidious plans of her accomplice.

Through the sexual attraction of the protagonist, the film tells about the search for the meaning of life, and about the dullness of everyday life of most people. The plot can be interpreted in completely different ways. This is partly why American Beauty became one of the major film events of 1999 and won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
